INFO: Get your roof ready for Winter NOW

An Ice Dam is a backup of ice that forms on the roof under certain winter conditions. When an ice dam forms, the melted water backs up and seeps underneath the shingles. Eventually, it will drip into the insulation and down into the ceilings and exterior walls beneath the eave, ruining sheetrock, paint, and soaking insulation. Modern insulation loses it's insulating properties after it's been wet and, if not allowed to dry, can lead to the formation of mold or mildew inside wall cavities. Ice dams can break free pulling shingles and gutters off with it and causing damage to anything it falls on. If the roof sheathing stays wet, it can form mildew and serious rot.
There are several things you can do to avoid getting an ice dam or to reduce the risk of damage after one has formed, but there’s really only one cure: a combination of better insulation and proper venting in the attic and eaves.

If you suspect you may have conditions for an ice dam let our repair professionals help.
